As recommended in 'Doctor Who Magazine' issue 444 and (rather amazingly) BBC America, this is a rundown of every Doctor Who adventure from 1963's 'An Unearthly Child' right up to 2011's Christmas Special 'The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe'. Every story is represented in this video, but 106 individual episodes are still missing from the BBC archives (those stories with missing episodes appear by way of either small surviving clips or reconstructions).

The re-coloured clip of 'The Mind of Evil' is one of several from the UNIT documentary on the 'Day of the Daleks' DVD. Clips from other missing serials have come from a variety of different sources. I have hand-colourised the 'Ambassadors of Death Trailer' clip especially for this video tribute.

The numbering is a personal issue. I consulted with Wikipedia when compiling the tribute but I disagreed with some of the decisions made by the people who contributed to the page. 'A Good Man Goes To War' is not, in my opinion, part of a two-episode story with 'Let's Kill Hitler'. The storyline, locations, guest artists and directors are all different. Similarly, I consider 'Utopia' to be a single episode, with a suffiently different plot (an a different director) to the 2-part 'Sound of Drums'/'Last of the Time Lords'. Other fans are bound to be in uproar, but it all comes down to personal opinion. All I can suggest to those who disagree is... go make your own tribute!

And for everyone asking about the excellent music mix - see the closing caption of the video. I attribute the composition.

  • I've heard a recent rumour and I hope it's right that you BabelColour are recolorising Part One of 'The Mind of Evil' ? Part One is the only episode missing chroma dots, so no colour whatsoever can be recovered. So computer colourisation is the only solution. If you are recolourising then I send my appreciative good wishes.

  • @TezlaCoils Well, it's not so much a "rumour" as a full public announcement on radio by Steve Roberts of the BBC's Doctor Who Restoration Team! But yes, the cat's out the bag. Thank you for the good wishes.

  • Interesting to read the interview, despite the miss spellings :-)

  • @dfarmbrough - I'm glad you enjoyed it (although, of course, it's "misspellings") :-)

  • MIND BLIWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @docturlough Yes thats him and that is Pandorica speech

  • Thanks 4 dat i just thought you had found a further clip of the rediscovered episode.

  • At the end, is that Sly Mccoy reading Matt Smith's lines?

  • @BabelColour Great News! I've always admired your work in particular the colourisations of the black and white episodes. 'The Mind of Evil' is certainly my favourite to feature Roger Delgado as The Master. It will be truly wonderful to see 'The Mind of Evil' in full colour, as I've always only seen it in black and white, as indeed have a lot of the viewers back in 1971 with black and white televisions (which was the majority). Many will see this in colour for the very first time!

  • @AnUnearthlyChild1 It was CGI made for a short reconstruction of Galaxy 4 for The Time Meddler DVD (never used in the end). I think they used the clip is one of the DVD documentaries (on the Gunfighters, I believe)

Coincidentally, the genuine clip is on the episode that was recently found.

  • Very good!!!

  • Where did u get the clip from galaxy 4 since i can't find it?
