Written by George Gershwin.
Dedicated to my great pianist and pal Bess Bonnier of Detroit who died recently. We played together for ~5 years or so.
I meant to try to forget my usual "1 song 1 take" philosophy and do as many as required to get a good one from this, but odd things will happen and did. I lived up to my pledge by trashing the first take which has some odd dynamics, and was 4 minutes into my second take in a particularly difficult for me section when my cell phone went off on vibrate in my pocket.
I immediately forgot what tune I was playing, and made some stuff up, and then finished playing it after a terrible recovery. Then I meant to trash it and do one more, but my batteries for the cam and recorder were dead, so I gave it up and will have to hope that the terrible mistake happens when you're crunching on some doritos and are functionally deaf.
This is such a great song that I'm going to re-record it and get it right. (this is probably the 12th time I've said that about a song).
You nailed that one for sure!

@rmyAddison Hi Rich. Unfortunately, I've also forgotten exactly as much as I've learned too, so it's kind of a push. But thanks, Mick

For some reason I can't reply to a post (hurray for the great new Google innovations in coding on YouTube), so kinsey, thanks. I agree. It's a great tune and a lot of fun to play. - Mick
