I got laid off and have been useing food stamps to buy food. I hope to find work soon but I'm happy that I get to eat.

excelent point!! america is the only country in the world where the poor are more obese than every other demographic.

Perhaps the best answer would be community based food producing resoarce groups. But that would cut into the mega-corporations profits. We need to get back to the land somewhat, but everyone needs to have access to the land and materials to produce from the land. I think we could even rid the whole planet of world hunger if that was our goal, but greed gets in our way. I will say this though even though obesity is not healthy, I would rather see these kids obese than half starved.

@ccfan81 Well gosh last year I went with out eating for 3 weeks with out eating after I lost my job. and I was told that I did not qualify for food stamps because I did not have kids....
Personally I support wic which can only be used for healthy foods...and I understand...I was lucky...a neighbor saw that I had lost so much weight, my pants didn't fit me any more, and he and his wife fed me till I could get a job.
