http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/the-good-the-bad-and-the-grizzly/intr... After 30 years of protection under the Endangered Species Act, the grizzly bears of Yellowstone National Park have re-learned how to hunt. The Good, The Bad, and the Grizzly airs Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 8 p.m. on PBS (check local listings.)

Once on the edge of extinction, the grizzly bears of Yellowstone National Park appear to be thriving. Should they now be removed from the protection of the Endangered Species Act? The Good, The Bad, and the Grizzly explores this complex dilemma, asking: how do we balance the needs of an expanding human population with the goal of preserving our wildlife as nature intended? Actor Chris Cooper narrates the film. For more information, visit http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/the-good-the-bad-and-the-grizzly/intr...

  • Our teeth and our bowels indicate that we are omnivores, not herbivores. We don't regurgitate our meals over and over to break down the tough cellulose like a cow. Our teeth have cusps to help us chew meat as well as plants and our intestines break down animal fiber. We have developed our intelligence through cooperative hunting and problem solving. While it's true that we can get much of our proteins and vitamins from plant sources, we are not "natural" vegetarians.

  • The eating of meat is possible by humans because we are omnivores, it in our nature. Commercial meat by genetically produced domesticated animals is not healthy. As young kids we are force feed crap (i.e Mick D's pizza, bad meat etc.) by our parents who mean good.

  • @newerafrican - why make it more complicated than it needs to be? You seemed to have missed the simplest evidence that people are omnivores and that is, we've been eating meat and vegetables as long as we've existed.

  • this video show me that , kid needs mom dad helps...and the family is not that impodent for Male and female together, but for sure good for the Young

  • awesome video!

  • Humans are omnivores.

Fresh, hunted meat is proven to have good health benefits. Most of the health problems that come from our meat today is due to the growth stimulant hormones they inject all their livestock with, and all the nice preservatives they sprinkle over it for the 500 mile trip. Eating freshly cooked deer flesh or moose flesh is much healthier than what you buy in a store.

  • To bad there are so few elk left in yellowstone that the bears have a hard time finding calves to catch, to many wolves.....

  • people preach about omnivores, and they don't know shit. Cows are vegetarian, and humans feed them animal flesh in the form of feed pellets. Don't lecture about what type of stomach can digest what type of food- any mammal can digest meat, as can any bird, as can any fish. Once the food reaches the stomach, it will be digested, more or less efficiently. Meat is easy to digest.

  • @Atromitos888 Brown bears (as well as wolves,BTW) in Western Europe (France, UK, Belgium, Netherland) were already on the verge of extinction long before firearms became easy to access...and accurate enough to hunt these animals with any hope of success.

Bears and wolves were hunted with dogs, or trapped, then killed with spears long before anyone could buy a rifle down the corner.

People of these times wanted to get rid of them as much as you probably do with mosquitoes.

  • Go to hell.

  • Bears eat very healthy..
