Most of this video is NOT of the drum jam. Until Antonio(the guy wheeling in the the big drum) gets there, there is no drum jam. He is paid by the Faire to lead the jam. That other guy is a patron who has travelled the world and lived among indigenous cultures. He feels the need to share what he has learned about spiritual energy with everyone he meets(including me). It is a bit pushy, but haven't we all experienced something so life changing that we try to share it with others?

I didn't get to go to Faire this year, but I've been looking at people's YouTube videos all summer. This one saddens me. Drum Jam is supposed to be an energy release, not a force march! No one should be directing anyone to do anything! All that needs to be done is the drums to be played, and people will dance how they feel. I hope this guy doesn't show up next year!

I was really looking forward to the final drum jam of the year as it is usually the most energetic and intense jam of the year. I am sorry to say I was greatly disappointed by the way this jam went. I felt a little disrespected as a drummer by the guy who felt the need to direct what is generally a spontaneous, organic and natural jam. We usually have good chemistry. Watch it... at around 6 minutes in, you get to see the dancers with the WTF? look as this guy tells everyone what to do.
