Wyndham Resort at Fairfield Mountains, situated in the Blue Ridge foothills, 45 miles southeast of Ashville, is a 2,400-acre hideaway with Lake Lure as its centerpiece. Wyndham Resort at Fairfield Mountains offers beautifully decorated and spacious villas, condominiums and homes, available with one, two, three or four bedrooms. Most include separate dining and living areas, fully-equipped kitchens or partial kitchens and washers and dryers. Wyndham Resort at Fairfield Mountains is a great choice for reunions and other special occasions. The perfect vacation home - away from home - for a weekend trip or an extended stay.
The heart of this lovely 2,400-acre hideaway is Lake Lure, a postcard-perfect oasis where canoes and pontoon boats quietly glide across its still waters. Deer and other wildlife are as much at home here as our guests. In spite of such abundant tranquility, there is much to do. Two 18-hole golf courses offer a challenging game and full-service pro shop. An indoor and two outdoor swimming pools, lazy river and hot tub provide countless ways to soak, relax, splash and play the days away. If tennis is your game, 4 lighted courts allow for day and evening play. Workout in the fitness center or enjoy a spa or salon treatment. Miniature golf, water-skiing, boating and fishing are also big hits. Daily activities for kids (and adults too) offer limitless fun for the entire family.

Lake Lure is known for its sparkling waters and natural surroundings. Lake Lure is located in North Carolina among the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can stroll along the boardwalk, or take a scenic boat cruise. Rent a boat for the day, take in a day at the beach or go sightseeing. Lake Lure Marina is where everyone meets, for fishing, skiing, wake boarding and boating. The lake is approximately 720 acres so there is plenty of room for activities and 21 miles of shoreline to explore. National Geographic has called Lake Lure one of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the world. Lake Lure, sharing its shoreline with a portion of the Fairfield Mountains perimeter, is a recreational playground of no small proportion. Everything from powerboats and sailboats to canoes and water skis can be rented at the 120-slip lakeside Fairfield marina. A private beach with cabana is just around the bend, with nearby amenities that include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, miniature golf, four lighted tennis courts, and three restaurants. The lake, along with the trout stream at its entrance, provides year-round enjoyment for avid anglers. Large and small mouth bass, rainbow trout, crappie, several varieties of catfish, and perch are among the prime prospects for catch of the day.

Walking, hiking, and horseback riding trails through peaceful woodlands and alongside mountain glades often lead to hidden waterfalls and magnificent overlooks. Chimney Rock, within hiking distance from Fairfield Mountains, is a giant 26 story-high monolith within a 1,000-acre park. Nature trails lead to a dramatic view of Hickory Nut Falls, one of the truly inspirational natural wonders of Western North Carolina. Less than an hour's drive to the north is the town of Marion, where one can discover Little Switzerland and Emerald Village, open to the public for mining precious and semiprecious gemstones. Horse lovers can drive south just a few miles into neighboring Polk County to visit the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center. There they will behold a 210 acre complex with a steeplechaser course, show rings, a carriage trail and a busy calendar of horsemanship events.

Fairfield Mountains is near several highly attractive cultural, educational, and recreational centers - Asheville, less than 40 miles to the northwest and the Hendersonville, Flat Rock and Brevard cluster of towns to the southwest, within a 20 to 30 mile distance. Each of these areas has unique enticements, some of which draw national and international attention. Asheville is replete with folk art showcases, historic Civil War landmarks, first-rate museums, art galleries and exhibition halls, music, dance and theater companies, and an especially notable farmer's market. The Biltmore Estate features a 250 room European chateau built in French-Renaissance style by George Vanderbilt, grandson of tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt and furnished with priceless antiques and art.
