1 million men in exchange for 6 miles advance into German held lands.
Are we, the human race, completely mad?
Lions led by donkeys. God bless all the brave men who died.

Great videos, too bad about all the flame war comments though.

@Kettch23 Very Good Answer!

Compare this to Stanley Kubrick's Paths of Glory. The entire movie is posted on YouTube.

@Kettch23 actually the americans played a "minor" role in ww1. It was more the straw that broke the camels back than the overwhelming might the US was in the second world war (check out articles about RN 6th battle squadron/US BB devision Nine). That said, i dont want to underestimate the contributions by the american soldiers either.
@Naruto, also note that while this was the first british offensive, it was by no means the first large british battle, before that it was e.g. marne.

@NarutoVids55 I think you need to read more about the First World War. To say that the US "won the war" because of a machine gun is nonsense - the Germans and British and French had machine guns before 1917 when the US joined the war and it didn't make the difference.

imagine the donkeys declare war, and no lion takes part of it.

Thank you to the brave men of newfoundland.
From Scotland.

Excellently done and researched program! Kindness and love among humans were lost in 1914...sadly we have not seen a return of them since. The troubles of the world we experience today have their roots in the Great War of 1914-1918.

Anyone who speaks of a " victory " for 1918 is a damn stupid brute. 1/ it wasn't a victory for anyone = all countries were as well kneeling down. 2/ this stupid behaviour of French& allied politics, propelled Germany into the need for revenge!Germany couldn't accept to be treated such a way .They couldn't understand,and any of western nations,in same condition, would have behaved the same way : revenge! Too long to tell here, but the only winner were Rothschild Bank :already the OWNER of UK

Amazing how these two Brittish men easily relate to the last hours of their grand fathers young' life . But amazing as well , how their curiosity stops here. No one is asking THE UTMOSTquestion = how this hudge bloodshed could have started ? How the incredible funnies inside our history books could have been taken as the Truth ? Guys from plain people arn't that stupid ! Common sens can't take the Sarajevo false flag sitcom as THE truth every body has to chew to merely erase so many crimes .
wait im confused if this was the first battle. america wasnt in the war yet. but they said the british was under german machine gun?. confused america introduced the machine gun to the war. they created it and thats what won them the war. so how does germany have it please explain

@NarutoVids55 No this wasn't the first battle of the war but it was the first major offensive battle by the British. The machine gun was invented ~30 years before the war by an American, Hiram Maxim. However all major nations had licensed versions of the Maxim machine gun, that is why all the machine guns of the time look similar. The Americans didn't win the war it was a joined effort by all Allied Nations. The Germans used the MG better at the beginning of the war than the Allies.
