Local CBS affiliate KOIN-TV in Portland featured a story on how the USC School of Social Work is using virtual technology to help war veterans deal with post-traumatic stress and help therapists learn how to treat them more effectively. The USC Institute for Creative Technologies, working collaboratively with the school, demonstrated how Virtual Iraq and the Virtual Patient are providing new ways of training and treatment that developers hope will be duplicated at other schools across the country. "We have enormous need for this. We think as many 300,000 veterans coming back from Afghanistan or Iraq will have combat stress reactions of one kind or another," Dean Marilyn Flynn said.
