Just a test of AVCHD @ 1920x1080 on the Sony DSC-TX7. Windows Media Player wouldn't even play it, and Picasa used Divx Plus to play it, which I thought was weird since Media Player didn't have trouble playing the AVCHD @1440 x 1080. Even weirder, the software that ships with the camera didn't have any trouble playing the video as long as I did not try to view it in full screen.

As for processing time when submitting to Youtube, there was a small delay, but it could easily be blamed on additional traffic due to Life in A Day. The actual processing part of the upload actually took a few seconds.

Add to that maybe 5-10 more minutes before the HD streams became available.

  • When you uploaded this video, did you have to convert the format of the avchd files, or were you able to upload it straight to youtube without any format changes? I'm hoping I can upload straight to Youtube with an AVCHD camcorder I'm about to get. Youtube takes my videos straight from the hard drive of the camcorder I have right now, and I would love it if does the same for the AVCHD camcorder I'm planning to buy soon.

  • @Torn80cj no, it let me upload AVCHD as-is. The problem is that the increase in quality doesn't justify how much power you need in order to handle the file. I could only play the file in a core 2 duo 2.8GHZ with 4GB RAM and Windows 7-64. The file played beautifully when using the dock and the HDMI output. Eventually I stopped bothering with AVCHD and I do my videos as 720P MP4 (still same camera which btw has been perfect for as long as I have owned it).

  • @pvera Thanks for the information, that's mainly what I was hoping for right now since I don't have a computer for editing or making movies and compilations of videos that I will film in the near future. The computer will be the next thing on my list.
