I've become a Tesco 'diversity champion' bringing the hopes and fears of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender staff to the attention of Tesco management - with the blessing of that management!

So if are gay and you work at Tesco, are thinking of working at Tesco, or want to know more about how Tesco wishes to treat gay staff, then please watch!

  • I have worked for tesco many years and have not seen anything about a gltb group with in the company is it just at head office or are stores taking part???

  • Hi pugwashno1

You'll be hearing about it in the next few weeks. Official launch event with main board director happening in a few weeks.

  • Positive discrimination is still discrimintion, isn't it?

Is labelling people visibly really an aid at work or does it encourage visible segregation?

What are straights afraid of when they find a workmate likes men... ?

  • The important difference here is that it's not discrimination but mentoring that's important.

Gay people need to know that they are welcome to get on at Tesco and sometimes need to be given the confidence to pursue their career when they see on;y 'straight white men' at the helm.

However once they have applied for the job, everyone seeking that post is treated equally. This network exists to help people apply for, not get, the job. The best candidate for the job will get the job.

  • BS THEY TOLD ME I WAS TO YOUNG AT 18

  • Sorry - what does that mean? Too young for what?

  • As Christians, we take what people say about us even if they do not like us or agree with us. We have to be careful when we talk about Jesus not to ram it down people's throats or offend just as we have to be careful in telling a Muslim that Mohammed was wrong! If you really think it is good to do what you do then you are quite safe to talk about it and try to persuade us but you must accept that we have good reasons to think sodomy is a bad choice rather than an unchangeable orientation.

  • @petersandyr The Bible also forbids eating pork and going to church on the seventh day (Saturday) not Sunday. Ironic how most christians will use Leviticus to criticise homosexuality yet refuse to abstain from pork has God commanded! Eating pork is also a sin! Join me, in not eating pork for Christ, join the Seventh Day Adventist church!

  • @MsHello2468 - That's very well put.

  • At least three mistakes.

    1.it's not 6%, only 1.5%.

    2. A man does not have a "husband", he has a partner. Husband and Wife are one flesh. Two men are not.

    3. Homosexuals do not have "weddings", only civil partnerships.

  • In the interests of equality I am asking if Christians and Muslims and others are also being actively encouraged to be free of fear to be "out" in their beliefs at work also? Otherwise surely they will feel that they will suffer professionally if they freely state their views on family life and the true meaning of human sexuality which differ from the pro-homosexual agenda?

  • The tesco I work at is full of gay people so there policies must work.
