RoboCup 2008 Humanoid Soccer Final: NimbRo vs. Team Osaka

Final game of the RoboCup 2008 Humanoid League. NimbRo (Bonn and Freiburg, Germany) met Team Osaka (Japan) on July 20th in Suzhou, China. For the first time, 3 vs. 3 soccer games were played. NimbRo won the exciting game 7:6 after extra time.

Is there a radio beacon in the ball? Object recognition is still very new and requires gobs of computational power - not sure if the small uprocessor brains of these bots have the crunching power for that.

The ball is a regular orange tennis ball.

Cameras recognize it.

Computing is onboard the robots.

NimbRo uses Intel 1.3GHz Core solo in Sony Vaio UX1XN.

TEam Osaka uses AMD GeodeLX 800.

The last goal was pure luck. But it was like a real goal. The sum of every robot's moves leaded to that goal.
