@lilpep4ever No, it's 1819. There are two Songs with this Title by Schubert.
-
@MannheimKirche es ist der zweite "Wanderer" Schuberts

@milly1801 I also have that CD. His voice in the late 50s had a sweet tone. My favorite performance of this song is from his 1957 Salzburg Schubert recital.

ist das wirklich " Der Wanderer"???????

The piece is actually written in 1816, and not 1819 as the intro screen suggests.
Just tidbit.

Nice comment. I like also that he's really neither a true baritone or a true tenor, makes his voice more interesting to listen to.

I like his 1965 rendition of this on his "21 Lieder" CD But...he was only around 40 years of age then. 1955 to 1965 were his most beautiful years (IMO)

Fischer-Dieskau is my favourite Schubert Lieder performer too. His voice mayn't be the largest ever, but does it matter? Not to me. He has for me an amazing tone, very secure pitch and his voice is still resonant and beautiful. What really makes his performances for me is his way of communcating to the listener, I like the fact he goes for simplicity rather than overexaggerated hand geatures. Richter of course was brilliant as always, simply exquisite piano playing
