cutting with a scissors may leave brown tips. If I am pruning for show, I pinch, if it is a routine growing season pruning, then I use a scissors to save time. Also, you should only remove the long tips from a Chinese juniper if you are showing it. Leaving them on for a while keeps the tree vigorous and healthy.

will pinching create a different result as opposed to just cutting the tips with scissors?
