I can understand using the chissel to get it going but once you've made space to use a puller why did you continue and damage the shaft? As someone else has said, even if you do file back the damage, you're bearings will wear prematurely. At least if you limited the damage to below the inner race it would have no affect on the wear of the bearing. This kind of mentality is why taking your car to a garage is a concern.

great. I do cut in a bit and hit with hammer and chisel. Next time i will try with air chisel. thanks.

congrats u just messed up the hub.... now every wheel bearing u use with that hub will prematurely wear..
rich so the bearing sits on the race or beside it

Im no master Tech but wouldnt a 3 Jaw Puller have been better to avoid damaging the hub, I dont think little knicks on a hub are desirable at all??

it is a CP not the best but gets the job done most of the time.
