This was another creation from infotainment company, Teeman / Sleppin Entertainment. Here Director: Stu Sleppin & Producer: Bob Teeman created & produced this music video remake of the Shirley Ellis song, The Name Game. They did this by creating the teen idol named Ken Gilcrest. The song was produced by Bill Heller. The Director of Photography of the music was Yuri Denysenko.

The song & music video tied into P&G's Crest promotion where kids were asked to vote for a new flavor of Crest toothpaste. Ken Gilcrest toured the country performing The Name Game & promoted the Crest Toothpaste campaign. The winning flavor? Bubblelicious.

  • Thumbs up if Neil Cicierega DID NOT send you here.

  • I always thought this was a fucking toothpaste commercial! For whatever reason, that damn name stuck with me all these years. I always remembered that damn name. Tonight, it just popped in my head and I typed it in, and lo and behold, this video comes up. I used to listen to shit on a friggin' loop! It's lame now, but in the early 90's, this was the shit!

  • Hmmm, so that's what this was! Like so many, I had to see this show up on The Disney Channel during breaks as filler, wondering why the Crest design/motif was seen during the video since it seemed like they were being very obvious about it but I wasn't really sure since nobody was credited at all in this for a long time.

  • @Pikajane No, the song is much older than this. Shirley Ellis made the tune famous back in the 60's.

  • I remember seeing this all the time on The Disney Channel as a kid! I loved it, lol. I've always wondered what the guy playing Ken's real name is, and what became of him after this.

  • Wait this actually was for crest? I thought that was a JOKE!
