Nintendo has confirmed a 2009 release for Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, DS remakes of the principal Generation II Pokémon games, Gold and Silver, which were originally released for the Game Boy Color in 1999 in Japan. Speculated by fans to be in development since the release of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the remakes will take gamers back to the Johto region, found west of Kanto — this time as Generation IV games.

The games will most likely be able to link to Diamond, Pearl and Platinum as shown by game data.

HeartGold and SoulSilver will be released in Japan this fall, on Sep 12, the 10th anniversary of the original release of their namesakes. International releases will likely come in Spring 2010

@ec10125 The Elite Four are way easier than Red.Charizard is not overpowered.You may have trained it well.Also I was taking about the old versions.In the new versions Red's Snorlax is dead easy to be defeated.

@FlameGyu overpowered? charizard was overpowered. i was maybe 7 or 8 had a level 80 or so charizard and weak team and beat each elite four member except for blue, and i mean blue from when you were red in red.

All you need to defeat Lance is a Lapras with Thunderbolt,Surf and Ice Beam.Nothing more.Red is a pain in the ass.In HeartGold/SoulSilver Red is dead easy because you have got a Mewtwo with 350 at least Sp.Attack.But in G/S/C versions his Snorlax was able to beat the crap out of your Mewtwo and Mew if you had traded from R/B/Y versions.Snorlax is a motherfucker overpowered lazy ass in the old versions:xD.
