Two suspected robbers, fleeing from the police in a high-speed chase along the Federal Highway, crashed below a flyover at Persiaran Kayangan in Shah Alam yesterday. The 28-year-old driver of the car, who sustained serious injuries, and his 26-year-old accomplice, were thrown out of the vehicle. The accomplice tried to flee but was caught by policemen, with the help of a passer-by, after a scuffle. The driver slipped into a coma and has been admitted to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for treatment. Traffic came to a standstill when the getaway car, chased by three patrol cars from the Sungai Way police station for more than 10km, hit a road divider and overturned. The car had earlier rammed through the barrier at the Batu Tiga toll plaza. Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mazlan Mansor said it all began with a report of a housebreak-in in PJS 10, Taman Sri Subang. A patrol car went to investigate and saw the suspects' red Nissan Sunny at about 5.30pm, but they sped off instead of heeding orders to stop.
