It was a very hot summer day, blue sky hardly a cloud and then about 8 P.M. it got very dark and the winds picked up and then the calls started for power lines down and trees and branches starting fires on power poles and transformers blowing all around the Greater Moncton area. Firefighters were going from call to call and NB Power had 80 calls backed up. Riverview Fire were on Glengary and Melody and on Cherry Ct & Point Park. Just as fast as this storm moved into the city, it headed out towards P.E.I. and the sun came back out just before it went down.

  • Thank you!!! I was hoping you'd upload a video! I took some photos of the clouds, but they didn't do the sky justice. That was WILD. Power flashed x4 but stayed on for us, though a few blocks either side it was out for hours.

  • @dmplaura I agree video or photo's didn't do the sky justice, very wild !!! To go from a clear blue sky to that , very strange for this area!

  • I was driving from Dieppe to McLaughlin on my scooter and i almost got knocked over by the wind a few times. When that rain picked up it felt like hail. Welcome to the Maritimes.

  • @Kaegro I talked to a woman that drove from Shediac on her scooter and she said it was very windy

  • @IcyKitty Yeah I lived in Windsor, all my life where you from :) Its like a comedy act down here, they get a little bit of wind and they all think its a tornado. Even in this video the guy says a tornado touched down, but no one has any proof that one did. Couple weeks ago Windsor got obliterated with a storm that changed the sky different colors, and these people are running from a little wind HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • That wasn't a tornado last night. That was a micro-burst. I lived for 37 years in tornado alley in the 'States and that was NOT a tornado.

  • @1996figureskater Heck!!! I have lived here my whole life and even I am laughing at the way people are going on with what happened Saturday! lol I honestly can't understand how anyone could think it was a tornado.... All it takes is one person to call it a tornado and practically everyone is calling it that.... As for anyone who believes it was a tornado you should look up the word Derecho........

  • @kelandaidansmom No touchdown, no tornado........ The reason the winds were so high were do to the type of storm - that being a 'Derecho'. Look it up and it will make more sense. A funnel cloud is simply that, a funnel cloud..... The winds were not tornado winds they were Derecho winds. Again, there has to be touchdown for it to be a tornado. You are right windspeeds were clocked at approx. 81km/h - due to the derecho....
