Mmm, preaching abstinence is never as effective as educating youth regarding safer sex methods, ex. condoms. Yes, of course abstinence is the ONLY safe sex, but let's be real here, people/kids are going to have sex, so we may as well educate them on how to protect themselves.

The American Medical Association stated on June 30th, 2009, that abstinence only sex education does not reduce birth rates and sexual activity. The AMA recommends that the federal government should instead use the funding towards teaching teenagers contraceptives and other sex education. The federal government has spent about $1.1 billion on abstinence sex education since 1996.
