My car (93 explorer) was eligible for the program. I didn't even consider trading it in for two reasons: 1, car payments are stupid when you own a good running car. 2: i don't support things (even to my gain) that i don't believe in its a sin.. this program is a travesty

The engine was losing compression BAD, the transfer case in the Van's AWD system was making horrible clunking sounds, it ate more gas then ever. I could fix all that but with all the money to do that I have a NEW G5 $8,100 small efficient car. Hell on the way to trade it in it's interior vent fan died. you dont seem to realize that there are plenty of alternative fuels that can be used in existing vehicles with little to no modification. oil from algae can be processed in existing plants to create the same fuels we use now. the government is either hiding this from us or doesnt know jack shit. the clunkers program is proof of that.
