this was brilliant because it took me by surprise and was the first time I heard his voice; the part suited him so much.

@cordu3 Thanks for sharing your informed opinion! I've seen the Carmen DVD and the Werther telecast, and have been VERY impressed (and the Lohengrin excerpts on "Sehnsucht" overwhelmed me!) but this week's Tosca at the Met will be my first live experience... I'm very excited; thanks for your take on him in several very different roles.

Yes, he was amazing as Caveradossi, but I have seen him in many more roles, Lohengrin was spectacular, so was Don Carlo and Werther. He has the most unusual voice, in the way that his timbre is dark, but easily reaches the high C and more and he IS the part he plays. The most brilliant actor. I don't know why some people can possibely say his voice is not big. The contrary, he can easily fill a big opera house, even if he sings pianissimo when the part requires it.

Como crees justicieroantik el si ha cantado como 2 veces en esa puta vida que mencionas, pero ambas con terribles resultados. La primera fue a la corta edad de 14 años y por los sonidos que emitia (de burra en celo) fue violado por un burro primaveral. La segunda fue a los 26 años con asombrosa habilidad para comerse en el aire las verduras que le eran arrojadas. No cabe duda el hambre es cabrona.
