Crucifixion: 21st Century Style.

I mean, just how bankrupt must religion be? The people on the radio show were NOT ignorant or unintelligent in ANY way. They KNOW what crucifixion means. They KNOW what TRUE persecution means. They KNOW words and ideas are not nails and hammers, or a rope hanging from a tree. How dare those disingenuous fuckers claim to be persecuted? When does gross exaggeration become a downright lie? The early Christians would laugh (or spit) at the use of the word "persecution" to describe the plight of believers in the west in the 21st Century. The only threat to a believer these days is humiliation and embarrassment, and laughter. And may it grow, and grow.

The persecution of the religious is mostly carried out BY the religious, such as as in Roman times, or in the gas chambers. How I wish I could put these deceptive, fake-whining asshats into the shoes of someone who REALLY faced such horrors, just for a second. They would return, I think, weeping with gratitude to the 21st Century and would never dare repeat their accusation of "persecution" by modern humanists/secularists...out of SHAME.

No doubt you also felt oppressed because you only had 75% of the air-time on a radio show.

@TimppaKoo I'm totally open to some sort of religious experience but only from God not someone else's affirmation that it's true. If I was of that frame of mind, I'd have to believe in all sorts of gods.

In philosophical level there's no truth. With opinion people fight infinitely as history proves. Same is with war, politics, power, hierarchical societies and what it proves is our huge Ego!

As long our ego "rules", we deny another Ism and join with like-minded ones forming a new Ism. By definition "anything connecting people in opinionated illusion, making them see and maintain it as a truth".

We deserve better. Good ethics + morals starts inside out and can't fail when others realize the same.

@phihellens of course we atheists are the modern day romans! Think about all the great literature, all the architecture, the art, the science, all of that was by the romans. Thats how it is today with Atheists. Just in the same way that the christians burned down the library of alexander, they are trying to burn down the scientific community. The scientific community and the alexanders library have one thing in common, they give a perspective on reality that chrisitianity cant coinside with.

There's another point here: why are the religious so fascinated by the views of atheists? Not just afraid, but also genuinely interested...? I suspect it's because most of them secretly agree with us, but can never admit it to another theist, so they're compelled to work through their own doubts with atheists. Any thoughts, people?

Free thought, the limited capacity of the neurons in another limited 80 or so years, in an infinite capacity of imagination, so complex, can cause self inflicted paradox's, the argument carries on, cognitive minds constantly discussing, reasoning, calculating, looking at whats as real as can be told, and pushing aside that which is unprovable, discerning the fabric of the realest reality, for what feels like, forever.
