The Diodes live at The Horseshoe Tavern, Toronto on November 17 2011.
special guest vocalist: Teddy Fury!

"In 1977, a pivotal concert at the Ontario College of Art proved to be ground zero for the Toronto punk explosion.

Friday, Feb 18, 1977 - The Dishes, The Diodes, and The Doncasters (featuring Martha Johnson, later of Martha & The Muffins) shared the stage while The Viletones, Teenage Head and others in the audience realized a common musical solidarity that, by summer 77, had completely enveloped the Toronto and national musical ethos.

34 years later, the aftershocks of that groundbreaking summer are still being felt. Toronto is now a major musical force, dictating direction and trends on a worldwide scale; what was once alternative now the status quo. What was once a derelict street of second hand bookshops and greasy spoons - now the cultural heartbeat of the city.

On Nov 17, 2011, The Diodes return to Queen Street, at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern to spearhead a modern day 3D Show with an invitation to all to share in a fantastic night of musical solidarity - art, dancing crazy, and really loud rock'n'roll.

The Diodes (John Catto, Paul Robinson, Ian Mackay, John Hamilton) will perform most of their debut 1977 album, The Diodes, in addition to all their hits and favourites; joined on stage by very special guest, Bent Rasmussen (original Diodes drummer on the 1977 3D Show). John Hamilton will recreate his keyboard parts live on stage for the first time for a full set; for fans of the band's power pop classics - this is not to be missed.

The Diodes are fresh from various highlights; voted "Best Toronto Band. Ever" by The Toronto Star 2011; the release of a vinyl album of their historic 1978 Live at the El Mocambo concert (pre-Elvis Costello); the NXNE premiere of Circa:1977, the Diodes documentary by Aldo Erdic; a 2010 Italian tour; and a renewed interest in the Diodes' role in the ground zero creation of Toronto's alternative music revolution as chronicled in the books Treat Me Like Dirt (by Liz Worth) and Trouble In The Camera Club (by Don Pyle)."
