  • @cochrab - Estes Park is beautiful. We used to skip school and drive up to Estes Park and walk around the Stanley Hotel looking for spooky things, i.e., The Shining...lol. My best girlfriend actually got married in the Stanley Hotel. The Colorado Rocky Mountains are beautiful, and there is so much history and so much to see. I wish you safe travels and look forward to viewing more of your videos. I see you have recently uploaded a few more! :-)

  • @youtubingwithyou Lol, The Shining is one of my all time favorite movies! The Stanley would be a beautiful place for a wedding. We've stayed there on two separate occasions. We roamed the halls for hours looking for spooky stuff too! Thanks for the safe travel wishes and for watching my videos.

  • @cochrab - Yes, it was scarier than hell. I never thought the car was going to stop rolling. My girlfriend was a passenger in the car. She had a bruise on her thigh, that's it. She was more concerned about her shoe that she lost and at all the people stopping to stare and taking photos; she proceeded to flip them all the bird...lol. I grew up in Boulder and lived there at the time we were on our way skiing. Don't live in Colorado anymore.

  • @youtubingwithyou What a story! We stayed in Estes Park (at the Stanley Hotel) while we were out there. I drove through Boulder several times on Rt 36 between getting to Estes Park and going back to Mt Evans, etc. I like how you can see Denver off in the distance from some of those hills. Your girlfriend flipping off the passers by cracked me up! I will look up Rollins Pass for sure, I've never heard of it. I live in Ohio and don't get out that way often enough.

  • @cochrab - Thanks! I was driving a Mazda RX-3, my first car, following a snow plow in the far right lane. I came up on it too quickly, and I over corrected the wheel to avoid rear-ending it. My left wheels got caught up in a very fine patch of slush in the road (actually the roads were pretty much dry other than this slush). The car did a 180-degree turn in the middle of I-70, and the car moved backwards, until the back wheels caught the edge of the embankment and flipped us over the edge.

  • @youtubingwithyou Wow, what a scary story! Was your passenger(s) ok? Were you on vacation or do (did) you live in CO? Again, I'm glad you were ok, I can't imagine a ride like that...

  • Awesome video!! Just did a trip from illinois to cali Colorado views were amazing

  • Wow ! Thanks for uploading . Nice scenery my wife and I drove from illinois to cali and colorado had awesome views!!

  • Man I miss Colorado. I did a year abroad at CU Boulder, and one of my all-time favourite experiences was driving across Colorado with a buddy. People from Colorado definitely seem to appreciate the environment they live in, but my mind was blown. God damn I miss those mountains.

  • Awesome Video. I did this drive last year around Nov. 1st or so. This is exactly what I saw, Thanks man. Just wanted to relive the drive. It sucked driving to Seattle though.

  • @cochrab - Regarding the subscription, you're most welcome! I can totally relate to your wife's anxiety on that drive to Mt. Evans. The bottom of my stomach was falling out just watching the video...lol. I bet Pike's Peak would be awesome. You should try Rollins Pass, amazing history. My parents took me over it as a child. My mom and I were so scared, we got out of the car and walked, while my dad drove. Google it...but if you drive, don't even think about taking your wife...lol!

  • @cochrab - After they transported us by ambulance to a little tiny medical center and checked us out, the Colorado Highway Patrol took us up to my car in Farmer's Korner. I took photos of it (which I still have) and we retrieved what belongings we could. Then the CHP dumped us off in Silverthorne and put us on a bus and sent us back to Boulder...lol. The bus ride home wasn't too much fun. Amazing we lived and without more serious injuries; no seat belts back in those days!
