I will never forget this momentous day! Very emotional moment indeed. I just moved to Deutschland a couple of months before this took place. I eve n have a piece of the Berlin wall as a souvenir to remind me of this special event in history. Vielen Dank for sharing and posting this special video. =)
That's complete and utter nonsense. I grew up there and the average pay in the East was nowhere near $21k. This is complete BS! The average wage in the 80iges for workers was 9k to 12k but in _East_ Mark. And you couldn't buy anything for it. Only basic foods. For a crappy car you had to wait 15 years except for party members. Nowadays most east germans have cars, Internet, color TVs, mobile phones, go to vacation in Spain and have the normal western standard of living.
And before you slander off anymore, "Socialism" never murdered anyone, but rather people that call themselves socialists. Its like blaming Jesus for the Crusades or blaming Marx for Stalin. It just doesn't make sense.
@altfratuben: No, as I said the DDR was not a democratic socialism, but a repressive totalitarian regime. "a third choice"? Can you define that for me? Many fake leftists have used that term to introduce free market policies, "Neo-liberalism with a social touch". Mussolini, the fascist dictator who ruined Italy also used the term "Third Way". What exactly do you mean by that?
it really shows that the people are the voice of the government. They should do what we want..... and that is the voice and the power of one nation.......
Never would I advocate a turn back to totalitarian repression, but more and more people in the East are more welcoming to socialist ideas, which tells me that people are wanting a democratic form of socialism and not this capitalist brutality of the free market of factory closures, poverty and unemployment.
Democratic Socialism, like DDR? socialism is a big lie, as well as capitalism. There is a third road to chose! Only trash people still believe in socialism after 60 millions murders in sovjet union and eastern europe and china and cuba and .....
