I can think of a few things far more awkward than being touched for receiving a golden globe because the top of the film industry has recognized you as a genious director! It's not awkward! This is what it looks like when you get touched by something and express your feelings or find it hard to find words to describe it, especially in a foreign language different from your mother tongue. This is not how you show feelings in a constructed American way, but in a humble and European authentic way.
