I have been asked if I lockout the elbows, or leave a slight bend and why? This is about how my technique looks. My personal technique may vary from a more common held notion on this topic. It is what I find works for me and this is why....

I am pretty much at full extension but I am not in an uncomfortable lockout. I pretty much rely on my body mass to take the recoil right down my center line and act as the shock absorber instead of the bent arms. I have tried to keep a slight bend, but I find I am much more accurate at speed with a more consistent point of aim, each and every shot fired which I get from a full extension, especially with the first shot from the draw. Not saying this is THE way, but it does seem to work best for me.

I know that I am not setting any speed records but the full speed shots in the video are good for about 7-10 yards while maintaining consistent combat accuracy (8" circle). Any faster and I am not gonna hold that accuracy.

During reloads, I like to keep my weapon high in my workspace just below line of sight. This allows me to keep my eyes downrange towards targets or potential threats (situational awareness). I bring the weapon slightly inbound while canting the magwell towards the incoming magazine. At the moment just before the new magazine enters the magwell of the pistol, I momentarily "look the magazine" into the magwell of the pistol.

Sorry about the face thing. I am one ugly mofo.

  • Just wondering how you like your serpa holster. I just bought a serpa cqc with the finger release. I've heard alot about them being potentially dangerous. Is this is the same model you're using? If so what are your thoughts.

  • @eddierhelm

I tested and evaluated the holster for 2 years off and on. Did testing on other Serpa's also. In short I do not find them to be acceptable for the reasons that you often hear about. I encountered the same issues of hard finger press, fouling of the release mechanism and the holsters being ripped right off the belts due to weak screw attachments. I do not use any Serpa holsters currently. There are much better holsters for similar pricing.

  • Wow nice shootin. :) Are those extended magazine or just standard?

  • @ssdsurf ThanksI can't wait to get my hands on one so I can see for myself..Hope it doesn't make me wanna sell all my glocks to buy gen 4s lol

  • @glockcocker

I feel there is a slight difference in recoil and how the weapon feels.

  • @ssdsurf Thanks for the reply. I'm been hoping to get my hands on a gen 4 I haven't even seen one anywhere yet. Do you feel like it has less recoil then the others (gen 2&3) ? I was watching 2010 shotshow here on youtube and they said it did.

  • @glockcocker

It has the dual recoil spring first gen. All Generation 4 Glocks have adjustable backstraps from the manufacturer. I do not use either of the add on backstraps.
