This is a recording made at the Ash Grove in the mid-1960's of Lightnin' Hopkins doing the quintessential version of "Trouble in Mind" in front of a very appreciative audience. Note how Hopkins manages to play lead, rhythm and bass guitar at the same time. A remarkable talent, may he rest in peace

The first time I had listen to this I was surprised and misplaced, cause I only knew the Nina Simone's Version and this is really different, but not less beautiful.

Unique. Never heard this version before. Lightning was, I think, the last of the 'deep blues' masters. My kids used to complain to me when I played his music because it made them feel sad. guess that meant it was working.

right with you logothing. this is on another plane. i got a version of this that's my favorite blues song or maybe song period. lightnin' was electric. one of the most slept on/overlooked artists in the history of music...but those who know, know.

Not very "versed" in blues, but this is perhaps my favorite song. It's so dark and optimistic at the same time.
