i listen to this when i was a kid -about 3-4yrs old. I will never get bored of this song... regardless wheather its being played on the angklung or its being sung by people.

Dont you think its wonderful to see how we share certain things with the others which we never know before. This song might be originated from Indonesia a very long time ago but the fact is its a very famous childhood song in Malaysia too. Im sure theres wonderful history behind this. Maybe our nenek moyang are really good buddies, why not us!:)

Thanks for posting. Brings back happy memories of playing them bamboo instruments as a kid. The Kakatua is most likely from Maluku as originally stated. The Cuckatoo species are *not* found in singapore LOL

Kakak Tua ini asalnya dari Singapura , bukanya dari Malaysia atau Indonesia , Saya telah membuat research di Universiti Oxford dan mendapati lagu ini asalnya ditulis diSingapura oleh seorang Peranchis yang menetap di Bukit Batuk , Singapura , lagu nya di tulis pada tahun 1894.. Dengan demikian sah lah bahwa lagu ini asalnya dari Singapura
