KSP - [High-Quality video capture test]

Using DEADB33Fs plugin 'Dynamic Warp' (released today, the 16th of Feb 2013) we are now able to slow down KSP an absurd amount. This makes recording high quality footage with high FPS possible using even a laptop, so I took the opportunity to test it out. I'll be needing this technique for some upcoming KSP videos.

More info:
This footage was recorded at 1/8th normal speed, with just about every KSP graphical setting maxed out.
The game was running around 15fps with Fraps recording full screen (1920x1080), the recorded footage was then sped up to normal speed using Premier Pro (any other video editor that can change the playback speed of footage should be able to do the same), then rendered at 25 fps in HD, resulting in some pretty smooth KSP footage (otherwise impossible to record footage like this unless you have small super-computer)

Note that before using the plugin, this ship would launch at less than 10fps with the lowest possible graphics settings (this was without Fraps running too, at at a much smaller window size than 1920x1080)
The plugin does well in taking a lot of strain off the computer, at the expense of running the game considerably slower.

As you can see from the footage there are still some parts which freeze up a bit, generally when large collisions are happening. Running at 1/16, or 1/32 speed could fix this, but again would take much longer to record with the game running that slow. More testing required.
Theres also some jaggered camera movements I wasnt too happy with, but that comes down to my technique when recording/playing the game. With some practice I should be able to record much smoother camera movements (think of pretty much stop-motion techniques here)

Audio was messed up since I had music & videos running in the background while playing, will need to do further testing to see if the audio can be used at all when slowed down and sped up again using this plugin and process.

If you play it does it still lag or not?

if yes therefore this is just the recording sped up to look like it has high FPS? Did i get it right? Because I have a station with lots of parts and it lags with me and I'm looking to increase FPS

Yeh I think you have the right idea. Except it doesnt really lag because the game is running so slow the physics wont make it lag out. The plugin I used just slows it down a lot so it cant lag, so then you take that footage of the game running at 8, 16 or 32 times slower than usual and make it run that many times faster to get smooth footage.

Works very well for enormous ships/space stations which would otherwise make the game unplayable (let alone recordable with fraps) at normal speeds.

I have got this section into space, theres a 2nd & 3rd part too, but I havent managed to dock them yet. Was going to be an inter-planetary space station but I got bored and moved onto other things. Might need to try again tho!

I was about to complain about over-used song, but it's been so long since this track was in every fucking commercial about everything ever that it didn't get annoying like it used to. It was only after watching that I thought about how over-used it was.
