From "Inside Granada" - more on transmission, telecine, the central control room and what to do in an emergency. (Blame ATV.)
Optical standards conversion from 405 lines.
(With thanks to TV Insiders, the Porkbeam-Trophy brothers for the original recording.)
"Hello is that ATV?" love it!

Bet they had no idea that Corrie would last as it did. 50 years ago, eh? Amazing clip.

This would be from 1962. Much of the filming would have gone on the previous autumn, viz "Saturday October 7th" (which has to be 1961) and the Standard Fireworks ad, but the What the Papers Say plug is from January 1962 - Snowdon's appointment by the S Times was announced on 5th January, and the Observer ran an editorial criticising it on the 14th. So I would presume the announcement went out on either 10th or 17th January, plugging Thursday transmission on 11th or 18th January.
