Also, persecution of the Natives didn't start until the 1780's; Native Americans fought on both sides in the French & Indian War of the 1750's, and for the British in the Revolution. The tradition of scalping started from Native Americans claiming bounties on dead Patriots; until all that happened, relations between the Colonists and the Natives were good. The persecution of the Natives started when Washington sent Gen. 'Mad' Anthony Wayne to quell a tribal uprising well after the Revolution.

It wasn't a Civil War. The Colonists, although descended from the British, had been in America for 150 years; they declared themselves Americans, defining themselves from their British ancestors. It was a revolution, not a civil war. Are you perhaps confusing Washington with Lincoln, the events of 1775-1782 with the American Civil War in the 1800's? That was a Civil war; between the American States.
