We are at Charlestown, PA, as a set of Shawmut SW9's pass with a good size train. Loaded 2 bay hoppers, and a NE style caboose brings up the rear. Thanks for watching. Jackmp294.5... 10/03/1989

  • Chuck Norris just ordered the fuel for his pot bellied stove.

  • Wow 34' two bay hoppers.

  • I love this video. Not sure exactly where you are calling Charlestown, PA so can't identify for sure. It seems they are headed downgrade and the SW's are idling to me. I grew up about 200 yards from the P&S viaduct over Sandy Lick Creek in Brookville. My grandfather worked for the P&S from the late 40's until his death in the early 80's and was an engineer. He lived at the end of the street of the Brookville yard/shops/office, so I am very familiar with the Shawmut and its l-o-n-g coal trains.

  • @dumbasscracker B&P took over the line, and the Shawnut locomotives and railroad is gone...

  • My how quiet those goats were going up that grade with all that coal!. :-O

  • I live within 2 miles of the old Pittsburg & Shawmut line southwest of Brockway. I recall sitting in a vehicle in the 1990s at the Westville Road crossing (Beechton) watching a train go by, but I can't remember any more details than that. Wish I could have seen more of the Shawmut in action... Thanks for the great video!

  • @zuel660 never under estimate the power of switchers. Course they were made to pull heavy loads in yards.

  • I loved the Shawmust Line
