She was born Gayle Peck into a show business family, but the world would soon know her as Julie London. First a pin-up girl during WW2, then the wife of actor Jack Webb ("Dragnet", etc.), and after a divorce from Jack in 1954, Julie met and became the wife of actor/songwriter and jazz musician, Bobby Troup. Bobby encouraged and guided her career and Julie became the sultry siren of song during the 1950's beginning with a hit recording of "Cry Me A River" in 1955. A later generation would know Julie better as a nurse on the TV show "Emergency" where she co-starred with her husband Bobby Troup, both hired by the show's executive producer, Jack Webb. If there is a definitive version of "Girl Talk", this might be it.

  • This is my favorite Julie London vocal performance. This would have been a big hit had it been recorded in the '50s instead of 1965. A big hand to the Gerald Wilson Orchestra for their superb arrangement.

  • Thanks for your input...Nocaro

  • She really knows how to sing this song with passion....MAN!

  • @zamusicza

    Yes, PeggedLy (don't forget her...)

  • Oh boy, I've probably commented before, but this is just as perfect as you can get with lyrics of this tune. Julie London was of another planet with her voice and interpretations.

  • Beautiful voice, arrangement, everything that's missing from todays music. In a class of it's own. Many Thanks

  • Bobby Troup wrote the lyrics, but they weren't used in the film Neil Hefti wrote this for- Carroll Baker's "Harlow".

  • Girls like Julie never seem to have trouble holding there man! Its a great shame women don't enjoy being women anymore?? Gals like Julie, Ann Margaret. Angie Dickenson etc have FUN being women. And men love those kinds of women!! If you don't believe me just listen to the words of the song..lol...

  • Face it ladies. It's all true. Julie has us pegged.

  • Very nice

  • Joli, ça ressemble comme deux gouttes d'eau à du claude Nougaro "dansez sur moi" sur you tube aussi.

  • She's sadly missing in the world today ... such a gorgeous woman, a fine actress, and a fine singer as well!
