They are all graduates of Computer Guts, a program run at the Boys and Girls Club in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Graduates traverse five levels of instruction including a dis-assembling and re-assembling a computer, twice, installing Free and Open Souce Software, and typing an essay. Upon completion they take the computer home. The program is run by HOSEF, the Hawaii Open Source Education Foundation. The instructor is R. Scott Belford.

Well, the instructor mean well and do a good thing, but he should know how to handle hardware himself before learning the kids. They know nothing about ESD, and they can cause delayed damage to the circuits. For them who don't know about hardware it seems harmless, but it can be compared with learning kids to cut and meat to starving peoples before learning them to clean their hands and other boring details before the fun begin.
