@4MATICbenz Yeah I agree about the sl63 being high 12s usually, but in one Car and Driver test it ran a 12.5 @115, but that was probably a particularly strong example. Most have been around 12.9 as you said.

@JOHNNYGIX , I know your comment was made a year ago, but I cant help but respond.

First of all, the car in that video is an SL550 by U.S. spec. A stock STi runs upper 13s in a quarter mile(thanks to traction at launch), the SL550 does low 13s. What makes you think you'd rape one? Now race from a roll and an SL550 would have your STi for a nice little rice snack :)

Although, I do agree, for a car that costs over 100grand, the SL should be faster. But then again, that's what they have AMG for

@karlmalone11 , very true about the part about the SL550. Fastest 1/4m times range from 13.3~13.4 sec.

But I wouldnt say the SL63 is a "ton quicker". It's a lot more powerful, yes, but surprisingly not much quicker. The fastest times I can find for the SL55 and SL63 AMG are in the 12.9~13.0 range. (The E, C, CLK, and CLS AMG models easily pull mid 12s; the heavier SL, S, and ML do not). And that's even using launch control on the SL63. Traction is a big issue for the more powerful SL's.

There's no way an sl550/sl500 will do 12.5 to 12.8 in the quarter mile. Its a low 13 second car at best. The sl63 will run a 12.5, and that's a ton quicker.
