  • This is a really difficult way to make a silk hat.

    . Be warned - working with silk is not easy. It frays quickly and you have to make sure the tension on your machine is correct.

    Still- I loved the hat,

    Thanks for your comments. Actually if you use high quality duppioni silk with little slub, it is similar to working with cotton. The tension on your machine is a regular setting around 4. Granted you have to be aware of the silk stretching, it's no different from sewing any natural fiber in a medium weight.

  • Where has this been all my life?! Omigosh! I'm going to have to watch this a couple of times to really figure out all the measurements and which piece goes were and all of that but this really expanded my limited field of knowledge. AWESOME!
