A lot of effort goes into tool assisted speedruns too. Playing the game slowed down over and over can be more teedious than practicing a perfect run. Besides, the aim isn't to demonstrate that the player is 'the best' at the game, more a test of the game itself, to push it to it's limit.
These aren't in the same league as regular speed runs so it isn't cheating at all.
