Thanks for this, I agree with kloproses, the square root/squared ones are the really hard one. It comes up in Maths and Physics, knowing how to do these can be very versatile.

i've been watching the video, pausing it before you solve and taking my best shot before i see the solution. i had S=rx+S figured out to 0/x=r before you changed the S on the right to a 5. really stole my thunder there.....&-)

for the y = q -x wouldnt you be able to rearrange it for x = q -y instead of creating a fraction? add x to both side then subtract y from both sides?

Yes, you sure could!! It's in many ways easier that way. Some people have trouble seeing how nice it is to move the variable from one side to the other so that it's coefficient is positive; therefore you wouldn't have to divide and be thinking about fractions.
