Singer/songwriter Rebecca Lynn Howard will be the first artist on Direct Holdings Americas Inc.'s newly launched record label, Saguaro Road Records. Direct Holdings also markets and sells audio and video entertainment products under the Time Life trademark, which it uses under license from Time Warner Inc. The Nashville-based Howard, who has written songs for Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire and Patty Loveless, will release No Rules on June 17th.

Already a successful songwriter at the young age of 28, Howard's new album reflects her dynamic creative growth that began with penning songs for some of country music's biggest artists while most of her peers were still in college. She then put her talents to use for herself and ended up with her own Top 5 album, Forgive, in 2002. Now, with No Rules, recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Howard seamlessly combines rhythm and blues, rock, country, Americana and a few other genres. "I've delighted in growing my songwriting over the past couple of years," explains Howard. "It's allowed me the opportunity to take my experiences in country music to branch out into other genres. I've learned that in the world of great music there are no rules."

  • This lady is such a great songwriter and can sing. I feel she has not gotten the attention she so deserves. Forgive is my favorite. If you get a chance to see this lady when she comes to your town for an event, go and meet her. Very impressive.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG i forgot about it 4 a while until i heard it again!!

  • Rebecca Lynn Howard is awesome live as well in the studio! One of the most underrated singers in country music! Regardless of the song, she always delivers a great performance! Give credit where credit is due!

  • I agree, I wish she would release a new video some time soon. Shes a great singer.

  • dam... i know she's good but sometimes country people just have to leave black songs alone... you can;t beat Renee Geyer or Phoebe Snow singing this cover.

    Sorry.. still like her though!

  • I was just thinking the same thing.

  • I still say her best song ever was Out Here In The Water. I love that tune.

BTW, I have several pro vocal processors in my home studio. While I can make my voice sound pretty damn good I can't get close to her caliber. You think it's so easy? Your piece of shit Wii mic is missing most of your mistakes. Can you get a foot and a half away from a standard karaoke mic or your Wii mic? I think not. Try a 48 volt powered condenser mic then come back and make your claim.

  • For all those who are saying she only sounds good in a studio, I was within a few feet from the stage for Rebecca's concert at the KY Apple Festival tonight and she rocked it! She sounds FANTASTIC live, better then in studio or on CD.

  • and for these people saying that she doesn't sound good except for in studio, you obviously haven't seen her live, because she sounds better live than in studio. her voice is pretty great, even if I don't like country music.
