    1) he isn't addressing global warming directly, he is commenting on the behavior of water as it changes phases

    2) if he was addressing it, he would note that most of the ice is outside of the ocean like on top of greenland or antarctica. its not just floating around in the ocean like the icecubes in the demonstration.

to demonstrate what would happen, he would have filled the large glass with liquid water, melted the ice in the small one, and added the water to the large glass.

  • @rusrockt10 LOL! I agree! The MAIN thing learned is that the ice on the top of mountains is NOT floating in the ocean YET...so no matter what, whether it's water OR ice, whatever is on LAND WILL change the level of the ocean AFTER it makes its way there! • Really people? Are you seriously this dense? The majority of the ice on the planet is not "floating" in the ocean. It is sitting on land in Greenland and Antarctica. Mr. Wizard is demonstrating displacement and not global warming. Now I see why so many people subscribe to the hyperbole of man-made global warming. We are at the end of an ice age and there is nothing you can do about it.

  • That poor little girl. She was given a false sense of security about global warming not causing the ocean to rise. She probably grew telling everyone that they were wrong and bought ocean front property. Mr. Wizard simly demonstrated the properties of water molecules. This should have been an experiment about matter.

  • @cristynessable, Only you seemed to miss point of this experiment. It was totally NOT about condensation. The wiping of water was to remove any water not in the experiment.

@Mr. Wizard, Where's the land? A lot of ice is the ocean but there's a lot on land. You should have used a large bucket with a brick in it that protrudes out and some ice sitting on the brick. I bet the water would rise then. Would you care to bet your social security on it on your theory? BTW, I loved your show growing up :)

  • @hancho17 uhm. the northpole is floating... we only have to be aware of the southpole :)

  • the ocean levels would rise because the ice caps are on top of land too. antartica, greenland are land masses that have ice. when those melt it will flow to the ocean causing global sea levels to rise.

  • It's hard to believe people are so dumb that they think this disproves rising ocean levels. Talk about a fundamental misunderstanding of geography (the ice on the ice caps? It's sitting on top of bedrock, people, it's not floating in the damned ocean.)

I just wanted to see a video about a childhood mentor and this is the first result that comes up? God in heaven.

  • @cristynessable You should know, condensation like that does not occur in dry climates. Come down to New Mexico and let a glass of ice melt and note the complete dryness of the table on which is sits.

  • I don't have space to list all the ways this stupid global warming fiasco has been debunked, over and over again. What's the next calamity for you liberals to bleat about?

    Oh yes, the Mayan calendar.

    It never ends...

  • @cristynessable Really? That's your observation? Not that a proven scientific principle is demonstrated and that knowledge is being passed to the next generation... but that condensation, a complication to the experiment which may have been misinterpreted by a young audience who have no experience in this area, may have been removed for demonstation purposes? Really? THAT'S your observation? You are pathetic.

  • The problem with this video is, if anyone has ever let a glass of ice water melt to that degree, they would remember that the condensation on the outside of the cup or glass would have made the saucer wet and that proves that he didn't let the experiment go untouched, Though the result may have been it was tampered with. Not griping, Just an observation.
