**Note**

This is NOT the original audio that came with this video. I did a number of things to make it pass the YouTube copyright filter.

First off, since this performance was mimed, I removed the audio portion and replaced it with the record version. I lowered the pitch a bit, and also to help it match the video, I had to slow the song down 2 seconds. I also had to cut the song in half and slow down the first part, and then slow down the second half right before the guitar solo an additional 1 second. It might not be perfect, but after watching it many times, it looked pretty good.

After this, the audio matched up quite well, but there was two other issues. One was that the original audio's crowd noise was absent before and after the song, and while this was probably enhanced at the time, I decided to recreate audience noise for the beginning and end of the track. I also added it at the end to hide the fade out which is present on the studio version. I couldn't eliminate the fadeout to my satisfaction, so I just obscured it a bit. Also, this will help it pass inspection.

This might not please some people who are purists and don't like people who tamper with these clips, but they should get over it. I didn't destroy any history or original clips...those all still exist. This "project" was just done so that the video could be shown with a proper soundtrack. Since the song was mimed anyway, really any change is quite minimal, and to be honest, this actually sounds much better.

So enjoy the clip!

  • Great job mate. Thanks for the video and the hard job you did!!

  • Glad you like it. I'm also going to try my hand at the Chinatown and Jailbreak vids from this show and do a similar process. Hopefully the results come out as good as this one. This one is still a hair off at the beginning...the first verse or so, but the rest looks pretty good. Of course I've watched it probably 200 times now just to get those small details right, most people wouldn't notice and so many other videos have audio/video misalignment that is so bad you can't even watch them.

  • Awesome! I can't help wondering where Scott Gorham is though ^_^

  • This was when he was "sick" and not with the band...so probably around March 1982.

I forgot to mention that in the side info so thanks for pointing it out.

  • he broke his leg

  • No, that injury occurred toward the end of the US 1980 tour, and he finished out that one sitting on a stool.

I actually thought it was a knee injury and not a leg break though. This absense was for 'exhaustion'.

  • You have done a great job, as you said if they were miming who cares if is not the original audio. At least we can enjoy the video. Do you know the name of that TV program? Thanks very much

  • Thanks for posting this! I love this song.

  • Thanks for posting. Such a great song.

  • Recuerdo esto como si fuera ayer!!.

  • FANTASTIC blacksabfan

  • Hey, thx for the video. incredible!!! Can you also put in the rest of the Renegade numbers, would be great!

  • I remember where Scott said he only agreed to do those shows where he had to sit on the stool under the condition that they kept the follow spots away from him, so nobody would be see he had to sit down. So naturally, Phil arranges with the crew on the first night to make sure every follow spot hit Scott at once during the first song.

  • Interesting to see Phil playing a Fender Jazz Bass and Snowy playing a Les Paul Custom. Not their usual gear choices. And where's Scott?

  • Excellent Rock classic!

  • Great job mate, thanks for posting
