A little trivia: the bari player here, Howard Johnson, played and recorded with Crawford in the '60s.

I know David Sanborn was digging being in Hank's section for this. Hell, I would too! That arrangement is just ace.

Damb. This is sooo damn slanky. I woulda killed to have heard Hank with Ray or his own small group back in the '60s! Chill bumps.

He got me into saxophone. Too bad he never got the attention he deserved. But I guess he didn't care at all.

Wow! I just on a lark thought about HC and did a yahoo search(I knew he had been sick but I'd heard he was back playing about a year or so ago......) and read the brief l.a. times article. I was blessed to see him twice live. The 2nd time in our conversation, I was trying to let him know how much his music meant to me. That small band of Bro. Ray's with HC writing those killer charts-had a horn section that held its own with ANY. From Earl Bostic to Sanborn is the most SOULFUL player ever. HCRIP
