Recorded June 21, 1998.
Solvang is a city in Santa Barbara County, California. The city of Solvang is one of the communities that make up the Santa Ynez Valley. The population was 5,332 at the 2000 census. Solvang was founded in 1911 on 9,000 acres of formerly Spanish land by a group of Danish educators, who traveled west to escape midwestern winters. The city is home to some bakeries, restaurants, and merchants offering a taste of Denmark in California. The architecture of many of the buildings follows traditional Danish style.
The video begins in downtown Solvang with its unique Danish architecture complete with windmills. Next the video shifts to 6.5 miles southwest of Solvang in Nojoqui Falls County Park where I hike to a beautiful waterfall. The video concludes with a couple of clips from the prior evening. One is a view of the Pacific Ocean near San Simeon and the other is of the Apple Farm Inn where I spent the night.

Ja jeg tror også at det er en dejlig by og et dejligt sted at være. Hvis man er uden for Danmark, så er det muligt at få lidt af sit hjemland i USA.
Jeg ønsker at alle må få en god dag. Greetings from Danmark.
-(yes I also think that it´s a nice town and wonderful place to be. If you are outside Denmark, then it´s possible to get a little of your homecontry in US.
I wiss for all that you will get a nice day.) - I know my translation is´nt so good. anyway here is real greetings from Denmark

I too grew up in CA. Been to Solvang at least 10 times and always love it. It's probably the only place where folks actually know my last name...it's Danish.
