U.S. Office of Special Counsel ( OSC) supported TSA Federal Air Marshal Robert MacLean on Fox News' Fox & Friends discusses his termination for whistleblowing on the TSA. On August 25, 2011, the OSC intervened in MacLean's Merit Systems Protection ( MSPB ) termination case. MacLean was fired for disclosing a July 2003 TSA plan to remove air marshals for nonstop, long distance flights for two months in order to save on hotel costs. The plan was to make up for a budget shortfall caused by private contracts and cash bonuses for TSA managers and executives.

Why do we need air marshals? 800 Million dollars a year. They've arrested 4 people since 9/11. That's pretty ridicoulous. They're only on 1% of us flights.
