After taking it for a couple of spins, here are my impressions and personal upgrades.

  • 1. The rear brake will start to make a LOUD clacking sound. This makes it very annoying to ride. There is a rubber layer between the metal part of the break and the plastic fender that wears out or tears off. This cuases the CLACKING. Terrible.

    2. The locking pin will start to unscrew and without you knowing one day the head will fall off leaving you exposed to a wicked accident.

Other than that I love it. l have used it every day since I purchased it aobut 6 mo ago. To Xootr: Please fix

  • @lmsypj Any small piece of sponge or memory foam you'll have lying around stops the clacking noise. Line the top of the folding pin with some invisible masking tape. Solved both problems immediately for me. I appreciate the comment!

  • Damn good review. I've been looking at human powered transport and there are a few buses in my neighbourhood that I can't load my Bike on. I think this scooter is just what I need.

  • @arthursucks There's nothing more convenient than walking out of class with my scooter on my back, (unfolding it as I walk out of the building,) getting on, riding down hill to the nearest bus/trolley stop, hopping on and folding the scooter, then hopping off and riding to my next destination.

  • just got a xootr ultra cruz! havent taken it out for a ride yet... waiting for the rain to clear.

is it worth the effort to duct tape the wheels? how does it affect handling, braking? how often do you have to reapply the tape? how many layers did you put on?

    thanks!!

  • @eddiegun Duct tape is a bad idea after all. Once the plastic coating wears off, the adheasive underneath picks up gravel which only grinds down your breaks faster. Stick with the rubber. The tires will wear down, but they're so thick that you'd have to be riding AND breaking for 1000's of miles before you ever reach the rims.

  • Your cool.

  • one of the best reviews of a xootr, thanks for sharing!

  • Great review, ChubbsyDude! I just purchased the Razor A5 Lux but I know if I had $150 more I certainly would rather have this particular scooter.

  • @vjm3 The only repairs for my xootr have been a replacement of the back breaks. The front break worn down exceptionally fast and it's efficiency as a stopping mechanism was minimal at best. I bought two break kits for future repairs and now also break a bit more with my foot to stretch out the break's lifespan (around 4-5 months or 500-700 miles).

  • @viet7201 Sorry for the late notice, if your still debating the purchase of a scooter, it's time to bite the bullet and buy one of the funnest things you'll ever own. As for scrapping the sides while turning, that's only during extreme turns, and it only ever amounts to a few knicks on the bottom of the aluminum/wood board, but nothing to the degree that I could call "damage" even after months of ownership. A small piece of foam/sponge can remove most rattling sounds.

  • @A5runner Not a problem! :)
