@kaikiana He did not sail in a Ranger 23 that was the boat used in the movie which was inaccurate

Dove was indeed a Lapworth 24, but those boats were not built by Cal. There were at least two companies in CA which produced them; Continental Plastics, and Viking Boats. I own al Continental Plastics hull no. 30.

@GabyMatthys "Dove" is a lapworth 24' Sloop . . . It was a production boat built by Jensen Marine (AKA CAL Boats) of Costa Mesa, Ca. One of many. Some had the small portlights and others large portlights on the cabin sides. John fm Bowman Marine Survey

Can anyone tell me if "Dove" was a "one of" or a serial constructed boat?
Thanks,

@marvenmartian . I thought the same but after looking at the photos in the book it is the Dove.

I was thinking the same thing. How could he just part ways with that boat so easily? What he and that boat done was legendary, the time he and that boat spent together, you would think he would've had a major bond towards it.

I am not too sure that is dove. I have the old national geographics featuring Robin and his boat. There are striking differences. The most telling are the portlights. In the NG pics they are considerably larger. I'd like to think it is still out there somewhere.
He sailed a Ranger 23, I am not sure what you are talking about that this is the Dove.

@kaikiana Get a copy of 'THE BOY WHO SAILED AROUND THE WORLD ALONE' from Amazon or your library and have a look at the pictures on pages 98 and 109.
