Eighteen-year-old David Ellis was fatally injured while working on the second day of his new job. To those who did not know him, David's death is a stark reminder of the many dangers that confront young workers. To those who did know him, David's life is cherished in the memories: As an "A" student, as a musician, as an athlete, and as a volunteer to people in need. David's father and sister, some school friends and one of his teachers share their thoughts and feelings about the personal loss behind a workplace fatality. This video presents and opportunity for students, teachers and parents to raise awareness on the importance of occupational health & safety.
Wonderful video guys. My heart goes out to you. I lost my 18 year old son Daniel in his 1st year as an apprentice toolmaker. He was pulled into a horizontal borer - no one saw the accident - no one thought it was necessary to supervise a 1st year apprentice operating a machine capable of ripping a human being apart. So...while we live in countries oceans apart, we share some common pain. Take care, Andrea Madeley (South Australia)
