An opportunity to see how the hard drive work's inside your computer.
In principle a hard drive is fairly simple but ,they are amazing!

See how fast the actuator mechanism work's.

At the end of the video i am damaging the surface of the hard drive with a massively strong hard drive magnet!! ,it was only an old 4.3Gig drive.

What's Inside a Hard Drive?

The Platters The platters are the actual disks inside the drive that store the magnetized data.Traditionally platters are made of a light aluminum alloy and coated with a magnetizable material.

The Spindle and Spindle Motor ,the platters in a drive are separated by disk spacers and are clamped to a rotating spindle that turns all the platters in unison

The Read/Write Heads ,all the heads are attached to a single head actuator, or actuator arm that moves the heads around the platters.

The Head Actuator ,All the heads are attached to a single head actuator, or actuator arm that moves the heads around the platters ,when in operation the tiny read/write heads on the end of each arm don't actually touch the platter surfaces, they ride on a cushion of air!.
