@pavilionking06 Don't know what your talking about, the UTA Trax and public tranportation system in SLC, was named the best public transit in the country. plus the one time I was in portland, I didn't see any difference of the walkable, bike-able, livability there then in SLC, probably the only difference is that in Portland you can't walk around at night, in SLC we can still do that.

im 14 and ive lived in vancouver washington ( like 15 mins from portland),issaquah washington ( 10 mins from seattle), in boise, and also in salt lake city. My favorite place to VISIT has to be Seattle.. but my favorite city that ive lived in is SLC, seattle and portland are just to big for me. salt lake city is still small enough that people are still nice and theres not terrible traffic and its still a big city plus its fun.. same with boise. seattle and portland are just to big for me.

@bcroz76 20 or so years ago I used to take busses around SL a lot, and it was bad. I had one commute that was nearly 2 hours (murray to magna). It has vastly improved over the years, though I have found that it took a very long time for people to get the idea that public transport here sucked out of their heads. It really is great at this point, and is still growing fast.

@JD198276 I disagree. I'm not bashing on other states or anything, but I've traveled quite a bit through out the US, and I LOVE utah the most.

@pavilionking06 that would b awesome I cant wait 4 it! I bet the streetcar will be a great help to everyone who lives across the Willamette that bus is always pack during 3 pm- 7 pm I hope they work on extending the green line to Oregon city then cut the buses that would be even more awesome lol. Because that trip to Oregon City from Clackamas town center and downtown is a long ride, I liked it sometimes, but other times when I just wanted 2 get home, it sucked lol. I hope Utah can do more too!

@JD198276 They did just recently in the last few months open the MAX Green line that connects the downtown core and surrounding area to Clackamas Town center. The most current work is taking the streetcar from the Pearl District West side across to the East-side and down to OMSI where it will eventually cross the Willamette on a new mass-trans-ped-only bridge being constructed @ South waterfront. They are also planning a new MAX line that will run from PSU across that same bridge to Milwaukie.
-
@pavilionking06 isnt the milwaukie line already running the green line? I left after they completed it and after it opened to the public, wish it was there way before because I worked by the clackamas town mall and dreaded the bus 72 lol. because of all the people on it. They have been working on the Willamette one for a few years now i want to go back to Oregon just to ride that one lol. Been waiting for it since they marked the roads for it.
-
@JD198276 Gotta love it. The MAX and streetcar lines are expanding on the east side and over the Willamette as we type. The new Milwaukie line will be a nice addition.

Once you have lived in Utah all your life and move elsewhere, and then come back Utah looks pretty dried up and ugly... Just what I experienced moving back from Oregon to here.
The comments about SLC having poor public transit are absurd. I have lived for years in several big cities, including Las Vegas, Salt Lake, and Seattle. When I arrived in Seattle, having heard all of the hype about its great public transit, I was dumbstruck to see that it couldn't hold a candle to SLC. As further evidence, SLC was voted best small city public transit system in the country several times over. I know its trendy to bag on SLC, but at least get your facts straight.

@mkmny2010 Hands down Portland, Oregon beats out SLC any day of the week with public transit, urban planning, walkable, bike-able, livability. It's nice to see SLC trying to change though. The car-dependent culture of SLC is one of the main reasons I don't like to visit.
